Our program is student-initiated and student-run. Students lead, tutor, and organize to make RWD happen.
We choose high-school students as the coordinators of our sites through an application and interview process. Each coordinator works closely with our organization and the library where the site is being held. Coordinators go through an extensive training process and are mentored by members of our executive team.
Through trainings and other development opportunities, we provide our volunteers the tools to become effective tutors, with teaching skills and the ability to work with youth. We deeply appreciate the work that our tutors put into the program and say “thank you” by offering benefits and opportunities such as: a letter of recommendation.
We take great pride in having excellent coordinators and volunteers and our program would not be possible without their dedication, generosity, and passion. If you are interested in serving as a Read Write Discover coordinator or volunteer, do not hesitate to contact us- we would love to hear from you!
