About the role:
Read Write Discover is searching for a highly-motivated volunteer Communications Manager to take our communications to the next level. If you love to write and connect with people, keep reading!
As Communications Manager, you will drive RWD’s internal communications and increase community engagement. You will work with the Marketing and Communications Team to develop a communications structure that ensures that everyone in RWD has a voice.
How you'll make an impact:
Ideate, project plan, and execute on all internal RWD communications campaigns
Own internal communications channels, including process and content for our blog and monthly newsletter rollouts
Gather content and data to build out our annual reports and highlight RWD’s success each year
Manage cross-departmental design requests related to internal communications for programs, events, and activities
What we're looking for:
Exceptional people skills and is able to collaborate and communicate effectively in a remote environment
Keen sense for aesthetically pleasing designs and ability to conceptualize and execute on these designs
Strong English reading and writing skills
Ability to seamlessly manage multiple projects at once
Collaborative and creative individual who is excited to grow RWD’s brand identity
Able to commit to at least a full year (August 2020 to August 2021) of volunteerism for Read Write Discover, workload being heavier at the beginning of the calendar year (January)
Fluency in language(s) other than English
Experience with design programs (i.e. Photoshop, Canva, Mailchimp, etc.)
Experience creating content and design materials for other organizations
Leadership experience in non-profit, corporate, and/or educational programs
Previous Read Write Discover experience in a leadership role
Read Write Discover is a volunteer and student-led tutoring program whose mission is to create equitable literacy opportunities for K-8th grade learners by empowering young leaders to make a change in their communities.
