About the role:
We are incredibly excited to welcome you to the first-ever RWD Language Diversity Committee. This role sheet provides an overview of your position, responsibilities and duties, and qualifications as an RWD Translator & Committee Member for the 2020-2021 year. How you'll make an impact:
Translate content and documents to Spanish or Vietnamese as needed:
Email exchanges between parents and RWD
Registration and Family Orientation forms and documents
Monthly Family Newsletter:
Write one Family Newsletter in English (month and topic to be delegated)
Translate the Family Newsletter to Spanish or Vietnamese each month
Train RWD volunteers to improve Spanish or Vietnamese fluency:
Host 1-2 spring workshops on terminology and talking guides relevant to academia and family support
Mentor delegates from each branch to confidently serve as the branch’s Spanish or Vietnamese interpreter
Meetings and Communication:
Will attend 1 hour, bi-monthly meetings with Valerie and the committee (Oct/Nov tbd, 12/2, 2/3, 3/31, 6/2, 8/4)
Communicate and share progress updates via email or Slack biweekly
What we're looking for:
A Translator of the Language Diversity Committee is fluent and skilled at translating English text to Spanish or Vietnamese and vice versa, responsible, and committed to helping others attain conversational fluency in those languages.
